From his tumblr page, dude looks like a believer. Why does religion spawn such rampant sexism?
I say this as a believer myself. How do guys f*ck up the concept so bad?
A professional script reader read 300 screenplays for five different studios, all the while tracking the many recurring problems. The infographic he made with the collected data offers a glimpse at where screenwriting goes wrong.

this is important even if you don’t write scripts
This is exceedingly important to all storytellers
Hey Tumblr! I’m Alex Hirsch, creator of the animated TV series Gravity Falls. For ages now I have lurked in anonymity, hiding in the shadows of the internet, watching as you’ve GIF’ed our jokes and shipped our characters and done unspeakable things to my dear Pines Twins. You…you’ve got some issues Tumblr. We’re all worried about you.
Pressing on! I have decided to finally emerge from beyond the fourth wall to share with you that I myself have a shameful secret. That secret is that despite my success as a cartoon show creator, I can barely hold a pencil. My understanding of the word “anatomy” just means adding abs to everything. I once mistook a kneaded eraser for a piece of gum and chewed on it until someone told me to stop. The point is, without a team of incredible layout artists, background painters, character designers, prop designers, storyboard artists and colorists, Gravity Falls would look like this:
Thats why I’ve created Gravi-Team falls, a place where we will be uploading artwork, cut scenes, and other strange goodies from the amazing crew that brings this show to life. I’m inspired every day by these amazing geniuses, and now I want to pass that inspiration on to you. If you like Gravity Falls, amazing art, and procrastinating, than this is the Tumblr you’ve been Tumbling for! Ladies and Gentlemen…GRAVI-TEAM FALLS!
All opinions, rants, swears and typos do not represent the opinions of the Disney Company or any of the individual Jonas Brothers.
Not really though? I don’t think the sisters exchanged 20 words, and the conflict between them was a man. There were other women characters in different locations, too, but they only ever interacted with men. Technically, if we were to get out a notepad and keep track of Nebula and Gamora’s encounters, Guardians of the Galaxy might have passed the Bechdel Test, but certainly not with flying colors, and not in any exciting way.
I was keeping track of this throughout the movie.
*GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY SPOILERS*
When Gamora and Nebula were in the ships outside the Celestial’s head, Nebula told her she was the sister she “hated least.” True, their other interactions were about Thanos and Ronan, but it wasn’t romantic in the slightest, and both (or at least Gamora) talked about rebelling against their father figures.
Nova Prime talks to the female Nova officer with a clipboard about something, but there’s no actual conversation…
So I do think I know where Karen’s coming from, even if there are no extended conversations with two female characters. But you’re right, Marvel be Marvel… sadly. And that means female characters come second.
